Volunteer’s Week: Graham North

Posted: 06.06.18

It’s Volunteer’s Week so we are shining the spotlight on the fantastic volunteers who make such a huge difference to everything we do…first up, is the wonderful Graham North:

How did you first become involved with NPUK?

My nephew, Andrew Wray, had Niemann Pick Type C. My first contact with NPUK was at the Annual Family Conference and Interactive Workshop on Niemann-Pick disease.

What motivates you to volunteer for NPUK?

I have met many NP families and I’m very aware of the many difficulties they face. As a volunteer, I try to provide some help to these families.

What advice would you give to someone who was thinking of volunteering for NPUK?

Just try it. Only by doing will you see the benefits for the families and yourself!

What’s your favourite memory of volunteering for NPUK?

At the Conference last year, a group of volunteers worked together very well with TJ, Grace and their siblings (on the Children and Young Person’s Activity Programme day trip). This, although a sad one also, is something I will never forget.

At NPUK we are a charitable organisation dedicated to making a positive difference to the lives of those affected by Niemann-Pick diseases. Our central goals are to raise much needed awareness, provide practical and emotional support, advice and information and facilitate research into potential therapies for NPD.
