Volunteer’s Week: Katie Reynolds

Posted: 06.06.18

It’s Volunteer’s Week so we are shining the spotlight on the fantastic volunteers who make such a huge difference to everything we do…this time it’s the turn of Katie Reynolds:

How did you first become involved with NPUK?

I first became involved with NPUK when my godmother’s daughter Lucy was diagnosed with the condition. I would go to the school Fayres and play with the children at the NPUK Annual Family Conference and Interactive Workshop.

What motivates you to volunteer for NPUK?

Seeing the family’s smile and knowing I’m making a difference, even if it’s just to one person makes volunteering all worthwhile.

What advice would you give to someone who was thinking of volunteering for NPUK?

Just try it. Only by doing it will you see the benefits for the families and yourself!

What’s your favourite memory of volunteering for NPUK?

My favourite memory of volunteering for NPUK is with the Christmas parties…I always seem to end up in a costume! Last year it was Minions and the year before it was Peppa Pig!

At NPUK we are a charitable organisation dedicated to making a positive difference to the lives of those affected by Niemann-Pick diseases. Our central goals are to raise much needed awareness, provide practical and emotional support, advice and information and facilitate research into potential therapies for NPD.
