Despicable Us: They’ve Done It!

Posted: 06.09.18

To mark Simon and Chris’ 50th birthdays they decided to take on an epic 300 mile challenge in just four days on a tandem bicycle – all whilst dressed as Minions. Not only this…it was all in a bid to raise funds for Niemann-Pick UK (NPUK) and awareness of Niemann-Pick disease.

Simon and Chris were originally inspired to raise funds for NPUK by 16-year-old Jack, a member of their sons’ youth football team who was recently diagnosed with Niemann-Pick Type C (NP-C).

After the event Simon commented:

“…YOU’VE DONE IT! We’re just two pillocks on a tandem who cycled 301 miles in four days. But you’ve all been brilliant with your hugely generous support and kind messages – so thank you from the bottom of our hearts.

We completed the challenge pretty much in one piece. As did our fantastic tandem complete with Minion Trev on the back. We were sore and tired but your unrelenting support means we’ve far exceeded our target. We simply couldn’t have done it without you…”

At NPUK we are a charitable organisation dedicated to making a positive difference to the lives of those affected by Niemann-Pick diseases. Our central goals are to raise much needed awareness, provide practical and emotional support, advice and information and facilitate research into potential therapies for NPD.

We rely entirely on voluntary grants and donations (raised by fundraisers such as this) to continue to offer our vital support service to those affected by Niemann-Pick disease.
