Will Evans, NPUK Chair (Christmas Message 2020)

Posted: 21.12.20

The NPUK Central Office is winding down for the festive break, and is set to reopen again on Monday the 4th January 2021. As we reflect on this year and look forward to the future, we are pleased to share the following message from our Chair, Will Evans::

What a year this has been for so many reasons! To use a well-overused word, it has been truly unprecedented, but I am very proud of how our charity and community responded to such adversity. It’s been encouraging to see that restrictions didn’t dampen the spirit of support and friendship amongst the NPUK community, with virtual coffee mornings, support groups, and the amazing Colwell Quiz helping us stay ‘social not distant’ through two lockdowns.  We also managed to develop our very first Digital Annual Family Conference & Interactive Workshop, which as ever had us punching well above our weight on the international stage, information, support and entertainment in equal measure.

This season can often be a challenging time for our community, especially for those who have lost loved ones. We hold them in our hearts and grieve each loss with you, and each one inspires us to work even harder to change the future for all affected by these diseases.

Although our Central Office is closed, rest assured we are still here for you throughout the festive period. If you are ever in need of any additional support, advice, or simply a friendly ear at the other end of the phone…please don’t hesitate to get in touch with any member of our lovely Staff Team, whether through Facebook messenger, email at info@npuk.org, or by phone on: 0191 415 06 93.

Please also remember that the NPUK 2020 Support Fund (formerly the COVID-19 Emergency Respond Fund) is still open for our community to benefit from, and every application is handled in confidence.

Despite the very different kind of Christmas we are about to experience, I hope each and every one of you are able to have a perfectly imperfect celebration, whether in-person or through digital means, being together is so important. Let’s look forward with the hope that 2021 brings brighter days.

With my warmest wishes to you all,

Will
