We can all agree that 2020 has not been the best year… bit of an understatement. For a lot of our community, we have been stuck indoors, distanced from loved ones and, at times, separated from the Niemann-Pick family. But, to look at the positives, this unprecedented year has inspired the Niemann-Pick UK team to put a lot of insight and energy into our plans for 2021 in the hope we can make it a fantastic year.
So, 2020’s Annual Family Conference and Interactive Workshop looked pretty different and was full of firsts for the Niemann Pick community. We all had to adapt to new technology and virtual interaction in order to make it work and the NPUK team are still so grateful that our community got behind the Conference’s virtual move in order to make the weekend a success regardless of a few setbacks.
Although there were many transferable points of the Annual Family Conference that could continue virtually, we can all agree that nothing beats the face-to-face meet ups that the in-person Annual Family Conference and Interactive Workshop allows. With this in mind, we have our fingers crossed that we will be able to have an in-person Annual Family Conference and Interactive Workshop 2021 that will mix elements of in person meeting and virtual interaction.
Hence, Niemann Pick UK would like to cordially invite you to next year’s event, which will be the 28th Annual Family Conference & Interactive Workshop on Niemann Pick Diseases. The provisional date for this meeting is the 14th– 17th October 2021 and we are pleased to announce that we will be holding the Conference at our home away from home for many years Wyboston Lakes, Bedfordshire.
We can all agree that this is a very exciting prospect, and we have our fingers (and toes) crossed that this event will be able to go ahead in person as planned. But as the news is constantly changing, we will keep our community updated on the plans for this event as and when we learn new information on the future of the COVID-19 situation.
Regardless of whether this is an in- person meet up or virtual event, the NPUK team are already working on making the 2021 Annual Family Conference a memorable event and a much-needed celebration of our community.
