In 2012, following consultation with our community, we introduced a new initiative – ‘Reflections Families’, which was set up specifically for those whose child or loved one has passed away.
The main aim of Reflections Families is to combat the loneliness and isolation that can occur as a result of the loss of a loved one. Reflections Families strives to provide a safe and welcoming environment in which people who are going through similar experiences can support one another.
Reflections Families meets throughout the year, virtually via Zoom, with an in-person meeting at our annual Family Conference, enabling those in our community who have lost loved ones to share, support, and enjoy one another’s company. After all it’s good to be around people who truly understand.
During our Annual Family Conference and Interactive Workshop, Reflections Families have a meeting room all to themselves – a space away from the main programme where they can meet together privately and talk freely. This room is available throughout the Conference weekend, enabling participants to relax and to have some quiet time in an informal and relaxed atmosphere. There are also additional activities taking place at the Conference venue and off -site, in which you can participate as much or as little as you wish.
If you want to know more about Reflections Families and when the next meet-up will take place, contact our Families Officer at any time.
