The 20th Annual NPUK Golf Day, July 2026
Our 20th Annual Niemann-Pick UK Golf Day at Ramside Hall Golf Club was a powerful reminder of what community, compassion and shared purpose can achieve.
The venue itself felt renewed – fresher, brighter and more welcoming than in previous years, adding an extra layer of joy to the day. From the moment our dedicated team arrived for early setup, there was a tangible sense of anticipation and care. Beautiful orange sponsor goodie bags were carefully prepared, registration tables buzzed with friendly faces, and the whole space filled with that special energy that only comes when people gather for a cause close to their hearts.

More Than a Golf Day – A Legacy of Love
This event has always been deeply personal. It was founded and is still organised every year by Craig Mathieson in loving memory of his niece, Lucy Mathieson. Lucy was diagnosed with Niemann-Pick disease Type C at just two years old. She fought bravely but sadly passed away at four.
What began as one man’s way of honouring his niece and giving back to the charity that supported his family has become a cherished annual tradition. Over two decades it has grown stronger each year, attracting more golfers, more volunteers, and more supporters. Craig’s dedication – recently recognised when he chose NPUK as his Captain’s Charity of the Year at Wearside Golf Club – continues to inspire everyone involved.
The day is never just about the golf. It is about keeping Lucy’s memory alive, raising vital awareness of Niemann-Pick diseases (rare, genetic conditions that affect the body’s ability to metabolise lipids, leading to progressive neurological decline), and providing real, tangible support to families who often feel isolated.
The Impact You Make
Niemann-Pick UK works every day to ensure no family faces these conditions alone. We provide practical and emotional support, information and advice, a helpline, and we help facilitate research into potential therapies. Your participation and generosity at events like the Golf Day directly fund this life-changing work.
Across the 20 years of Craig’s vision, we have now raised over £150,000. This milestone year added another wonderful chapter to that story. Every pound helps deliver support services, raise awareness, and bring hope to children and adults living with Niemann-Pick diseases across the UK.
Thank You – From All of Us
We are profoundly grateful to everyone who made the 20th anniversary so special:
- Our wonderful golfers who played with such enthusiasm and sportsmanship
- The tireless volunteers who gave their time and energy
- Every attendee who brought positivity and warmth
- Our generous sponsors – with special thanks to Aztec Colour Print, Pulman Group (for the exciting “Win a Car” prize and many years of support), and Ramside Golf Club for hosting us so beautifully in their beautifully refreshed venue
You turned a golf day into something truly meaningful.
Looking Ahead
As we reflect on this milestone, we are already looking forward to the 21st Annual NPUK Golf Day in 2027. If you would like to play, sponsor, volunteer, or simply stay connected, please get in touch with Craig or the NPUK team.
In the meantime, please watch and share the highlights video. Let it remind you of the power of community and the difference we can make together.
Thank you for being part of Lucy’s legacy and for standing with every family affected by Niemann-Pick diseases.
