Help Shape the Future: Survey on Living with Childhood Dementia
Niemann-Pick UK (NPUK) is dedicated to supporting individuals and families affected by Niemann-Pick diseases, a group of rare lysosomal storage disorders that can lead to childhood dementia, among other symptoms. We are proud to promote the International Niemann-Pick Disease Registry (INPDR) survey on the “Lived Experiences of Childhood Dementia.” This survey aims to capture the real-world experiences of patients, caregivers, and families to better understand the impacts of these conditions and improve support, care, and research efforts.
Purpose of the Survey
The survey collects insights from those living with or caring for someone with Niemann-Pick diseases, particularly focusing on aspects like daily challenges, quality of life, emotional impacts, and interactions with healthcare systems. By sharing your experiences, you can help highlight the burden of the disease, identify areas for better support, and contribute to advancing treatments and awareness for childhood dementia caused by genetic conditions like Niemann-Pick type C (NPC).
Key goals include:
- Understanding the psychosocial and physical effects on children and families.
- Gathering data to inform policy, research, and community resources.
- Raising awareness about childhood dementia, which affects thousands worldwide but is often under-recognised.
Who Can Participate?
This survey is open to:
- Parents or caregivers of children with Niemann-Pick diseases or related conditions causing childhood dementia.
- Adults living with Niemann-Pick type C or similar disorders.
- Family members or others with direct experience.
Participation is voluntary, and responses are confidential. The survey is designed to be completed in about 15-30 minutes, based on similar studies.
